The ARA Independenica (V-1) (formerly APNS Lake Champlain (CV-39)) was one of two People's Republic-class carriers in the Argentine People's Armada during up until the Falklands War. It was involved in providing aircover for the amphibious invasion force during Operation Rosario.[1] On April 26 1983, the Independencia along with its sister ship, the Veintcinco de Mayo and several destroyers were sunk by twenty-two Royal Navy Buccaneers of No. 903 NAS from Ark Royal carrying Green Eagle Anti-Ship missiles.[2]
