The Acre-class destroyers were a class of six destroyers built during World War II for the Brazilian Navy. The ships were built in Brazil to a modified British design to complement the six H-class destroyers in the Brazilian Navy. The ships were built in Brazilian shipyards to allow the British shipyards to work on vessels for the Royal Navy. The ships received a refit in the early 1960s with new electronics and the no. 2 gun being replaced by a 40mm Bofors mounting. Two ships were decommissioned in 1964 and the remaining four in 1973/4. ==Specifications== *Type: Destroyer *Service Period: 1942-1974 *Characteristics: **Length: 323 feet (98.45 meters) **Beam: 35 feet (10.67 meters) **Draught: 8 feet 6 inches (2.59 meters) **Displacement: 1,340 tons (Standard); 1,800 tons (Full Load) *Crew: 150 *Propulsion: 3 x boilers, 2 x Parsons geared turbines, 2 x shafts, 34,000 shp (25,000 kW) *Range: 5,600 nautical miles (10,371 kilometers) at 15 knots (27.78 km/h) *Speed: 35.5 knot (65.75 km/h) *Armament: **4 x QF 4.5"/45-caliber Mk.III dual purpose naval guns (4x1) **8 x Bofors 40mm anti-aircraft guns (2x4) **4 x Oerlikon 20mm anti-aircraft cannons (2x2) **6 x 21" torpedo tubes **8 x depth charge throwers ==Unit Run== *NRB Acre (D-10) *NRB Ajuricaba (D-11) *NRB Amazonas (D-12) *NRB Apa (D-13) *NRB Araguarí (D-14) *NRB Araguaya (D-15)
