The Airbus A319 MPA (Maritime Patrol Aircraft) is derived from a military version of the civilian airliner Airbus A319. Currently, it is in development by Airbus Military to compete against the Canadair CP-140 Aurora, De Havilland Nimrod MRA.4, Kawasaki P-1 and Seattle AF P-8/13. It is being proposed as a replacement for the maritime patrol aircraft currently in service in the Aeronavale, Marineflieger and Regia Marina.
