The Project 12700 Alexandrit-class minesweepers are a new Soviet minesweeper class being constructed for the Soviet Navy. The first ship was laid down on September 22nd, 2011 and was launched in June 2014. Sixteen ships are currently in service with a total of forty ships planned. The ship's hull is made of monolithic fiberglass and shaped by vacuum infusion which gives it advantage in minesweeping. According to the shipyard's representatives the first ship's hull was shaped within 1.5 days, making it a world record.
On June 7th 2016 a fire started on the second ship under construction, the Georgiy Kurbatov. Accourding the shipyard officials the fire would not delay the construction time, however the launch date was later presponed. Construction of the third ship, Ivan Antonov, began on January 25th, 2017.
