The Atago-class Guided Missile Destroyer is a class of four destroyers used in the Republic of Japan Navy from 2007 onwards. It is an improved variant of the Kongo-class destroyers that entered service in the 1990s. The Atago-class replaced the Tachikaze-class destroyers that were in service since 1973.
