The Battle of Bengkulu was a battle that took place in World War II in which the Royal Canadian Navy force Battlegroup Able-Seven assaulted a Japanese airbase/naval base near the city of Bengkulu on the southern coast of Sumatra. Soon after combat operations began, the battlegroup was attacked by four Zeroes and six Rikkos which were spotted by destroyer Athabaskan. Eight Seafires of No. 101 Squadron quickly intercepted them, although three Japanese aircraft managed to get through and ram the Bonaventure causing damage to it.[1]
