The Ceylon Mounted Rifles is an armoured infantry regiment of the British Army, headquartered in Kandy on the island of Ceylon in the Imperial Dominion of India and equipped with FV510 Warrior IFVs. The Ceylon Mounted Rifles were formed in 1887 as a mounted infantry regiment called the Ceylon Mounted Infantry, serving with distinction in the Boer Wars before taking its current name in 1906. In 1931, the CMR was deactivated due to the decline in cavalry warfare, but the unit was reactivated in 1941 and fought in Burma and China during World War II.
