The Dornier Viper is a type of air-to-air missile developed jointly by the Germans and Norwegians in the early 1970s. The Viper was developed by Bodenseewerk and Dornier Systems, using an infrared seeker and a new solid fuel rocket motor (by Kongsberg Vapenfabrik) intended to have twice the burn time of its UAPR equivalent, the AIM-9 Lima. The Dornier Viper entered service in 1976.
