East Tokyo comprises the eastern regions of Tokyo and consists of the American sector of Tokyo that was established in 19??. The Allied occupation sector became West Tokyo, which is strongly associated with West Japan. East Tokyo is claimed as the capital of East Japan. East Tokyo is separated from West Tokyo by the Tokyo Wall. The East Japanese government refers to East Tokyo simply as "Tokyo".
- East Tokyo is made up of the 23 Special Wards of Tokyo as well as the Hachijou, Miyake, Ogasawara, and Ooshima subprefectures.
