Dr. Fahd bin al Julanda bin Majid al Said is the current Sultan of Oman, having acceded to the throne on 11 April 2004 upon the death of his father, Sultan al Julanda bin Majid al Said, in a car accident. Sultan Fahd holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Reading, received in 1988.
