The Fort Worth HF AH-1/67 (Allied Pact reporting name Cobra) is a two-blade, single engine attack helicopter manufactured by the Fort Worth Helicopter Factory. It was developed using the engine, transmission and rotor system of the Fort Worth AF UH-1/56 utility helicopter.
The AH-1 was the backbone of the American People's Army's attack helicopter fleet, but has been replaced by the Seattle HF AH-64/86 in Army Service. The twin engine AH-1/71J remains in service with the American People's Marine Corps as the service's primary attack helicopter. Surplus AH-1/67 helicopters have been converted for fighting forest fires. The American People's Forest Service refers to their program as the Firewatch Cobra. Garlick Helicopters also converts surplus AH-1s for forest firefighting under the name FireSnake.
