M4A1 Grizzly

A Grizzly medium tank of the Canadian Army during World War II.

The Grizzly was a Canadian-designed tank of World War II. Compared to other contemporary tanks, it had thicker, more sloping armour, had a longer range, and, most notably, was fitted with Canadian Dry Pin tracks (CDP) tracks, which did not require rubber, a scarce wartime material. Nevertheless, the Grizzly served only for a short time before standardization between Allied militaries caused the Canadian Army to adopt British tank models. Remaining Grizzlies were mostly converted into Badger flame tanks, Skink anti-aircraft tanks or Kangaroo APCs.
