Gyeonggi (Korean: 경기, 京畿) is the second-most populous province in Korea. Its name means "the area surrounding the capital". The provincial capital is Suwon. Seoul, Korea's largest city and national capital, is located in the heart of the province but has been separately administered as a Directly Governed City since 1948. Incheon, Korea's fourth-largest city, is on the coast of the province and has been similarly administered as a provincial-level Special City since 1981.
