HMCS Nootka (D213) was a Tribal-class destroyer that served in the Royal Canadian Navy from 1940-1964.
Nootka was ordered in April 1935 and was laid down on May 20th, 1936 at the Halifax Shipyards in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Nootka was launched on April 26th, 1938 and commissioned on August 7th, 1939. She was the sixth Tribal-class destroyer of sixteen to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy.

World War II[]
In 1942, she was assigned to Battlegroup Able-Seven under the command of the Admiral Jonathan Shepard.
Postwar Service[]
In September 1948, she joined HMCS Vimy Ridge and HMCS Haida on a training cruise to the Ungava peninsula in Quebec. There the two destroyers left the aircraft carrier and toured the north, visiting Churchill, Manitoba.
During the conversion to DDE, her QF 4.7"/45-caliber Mk.XII guns were replaced with QF 4"/45-caliber Mk.XVI guns and the Y mounting was removed and 2 triple-barrelled Mk.IV Squids were installed. She also received two Boffin gun mounts and a single 40mm Bofors on a twin 20mm Oerlikon-powered mounting. She received the new pennant DDE-213 in January 1950.
Nootka underwent further conversion and modernization in 1953-1954 and resumed training duties with the Atlantic Fleet. In summer 1963, Nootka joined her sister ship HMCS Haida (D215) for a tour of the Great Lakes. Her last deployment was for an Allied Pact exercise in Bermuda in fall 1963 where she sustained hull damage while docking in strong winds. She was temporarily patched and returned to Halifax and was decommissioned at Halifax on February 6th 1964. She was scrapped at Faslane, Scotland in 1965.
