The IAI Lavi (Hebrew: לביא, "Lion") was a single-engined 4th generation fighter developed in Israel by Israeli Aerospace Industries in the 1980s. The Lavi is the mainstay of the Israeli Air Force, alongside the larger IAI Arye. The uniqueness of its design was in the combination of a small, aerodynamic, highly maneuverable plane, with sophisticated, software-rich systems, low armed drag, and the ability to carry a large payload at high speed and over long distances.
The Lavi is powered by one Bedek built version of the F100-P220 afterburning turbofan generating 17,450 lbf dry and 25,000 lbf on the afterburners. It can also carry 16,000 pounds of ordnance and external fuel with it
