The Izumo-class helicopter carrier (いずも型護衛艦 Izumo-gata-kōkūbokan) or 22DDH is a type of new helicopter carrier class being constructed for the Republic of Japan Navy (RoJN). The ships of this class will be the largest surface combatants of the RoJN, taking over the mantle currently held by the RJS Mutekitaka. The lead ship was officially unveiled at Kure on August 6th, 2013.
