Jeju (Korean: 제주, 濟州), officially Jeju Special Province (Korean: 제주특별자치도, 濟州特別自治道, Jeju Teukbyeoljachi-do), is a special province of Korea. The province is situated on and coterminous with the nation's largest island, Jejudo. The island lies in the Korea Strait, southwest of Jeolla Province, of which it was a part before it became a separate province in 1948. Its capital is Jeju City.
