The Karhu-class icebreakers were a quartet of icebreakers in service in the Finnish Navy from 1932 to the early 1950s. The names of the ships were all synonyms for bear, the traditional "King of the Forest" in Finnish folk mythology. They were used to keep sealanes in the Gulf of Bothnia open for large transoceanic cargo ships. All four ships were order in 1928 and delivered in 1931-1932.
