The Kashima-class cadet training vessels are a class of four training ships in the Republic of Japan Navy. The ships were built in Maizuru by the Hitachi Zosen Corporation. They are named after the four Katori-class cruisers of the Imperial Japanese Navy.

The Kashima-class is 469 feet (142.95 meters) long, 59 feet (17.99 meters) wide, has a draft of 15 feet (4.57 meters), and a has full load displacement of 4,050 tons. They are powered by a pair of Mitsubishi S16U-MTK diesel engines and a pair of Kawasaki-Rolls-Royce Spey SM1C gas turbines. The ship is armed with a single Otobreda 76mm Super Rapid gun and two triple 324 mm torpedo tube sets. Four saluting cannons are also carried.

The ships were authorized in the FY 1991 budget and the ships were laid down at the Maizuru Naval Arsenal in April 1992. They would be launched throughout 1993 and were all commissioned in early 1994.
