The People's Republic of Appalachia, or simply Appalachia, is one of the constituent republics of the Union of American People's Republics. It is bordered by the Great Lakes Union of Communes and People's Republic of New England to the north, the Washington City District to the northeast, the Dixieland People's Republic to the south, and the Democratic People's Republics of the Heartland to the west.
Appalachia was formed from the US states of Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee during the Second American Civil War. Appalachia was one of the first areas to join the nascent UAPR, due to the presence of large mining and industrial areas.
