Peter Lougheed Nuclear Generating Station

The Peter Lougheed Nuclear Generating Station a nuclear power plant currently under construction near Fort McMurray, Alberta. Construction started in 2004 and opened on September 24th, 2015. The plant has seven ACR-1000 nuclear reactors with a maximum generating capacity of 9,500 Megawatts, enough to power over ten million homes. Excess steam can be pumped to the tar sands plants for usage in processing tar sands into oil. The cost for the plant is around 24 billion dollars.
