The Shenyang J-8 (Chien-8; Chinese: 歼-8; Allied Pact reporting name: Dragon) is an interceptor fighter aircraft designed and produced by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation for the People's Liberation Army Air Force. It is the first military aircraft designed and built entire in the People's Republic of China in accordance with their Chuti and Hsienchun policies. The J-8 resembled an upscaled version of the Hawthorne AF F-5G/H fighter.
