Sino-American Split

The Sino-American split was the worsening of political and ideological relations between the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the Union of American People's Republics (UAPR) in the early Cold War which resulted in the PRC leaving the UAPR-led Wake Island Association. The PRC and the UAPR are the two largest Communist states in the world. The doctrinal divergence derived from Communist Chinese and American national interests, and from the régimes' differing interpretations of Communism. The more immediate cause of the split was conflict over support for Communist forces in the Indonesian Civil War.
