Type 42 Destroyer

The Type 42 destroyer HMS Liverpool at sea.

The Type 42 Destroyers are guided missile destroyers used by the British Royal Navy and the navies of Ireland and Iran. The first ship of the class was ordered in 1962 and launched in 1965. They are being replaced by the Type 45 destroyers.
