The USS Luzon (PG-47) was a gunboat built for patrolling the Yangtze River in China. It was laid down 20 November 1926 by the Kiangnan Dock and Engineering Works, Shanghai, China; launched September 12th 1927; sponsored by Miss Mary C. Carter, daughter of Commander Andrew F. Carter, USN; and commissioned June 1st 1928. In 1943, crewmembers from the Luzon and the Houston helped fit several Allied Pact vessels with the TRADIS anti-aircraft fire control system..[1]
