The Washington City District is a first-level subdivision of the Union of American People's Republics which is administered directly by the American federal government. It contains the nation's capital, Washington City, as well as the territory of the former US state of Maryland. Washington City serves as the district's de facto capital, and together with the city of Baltimore and parts of the People's Republic of Appalachia forms the center of one of America's largest metropolitan areas.
Washington City District borders the People's Republic of New England to the north and the People's Republic of Appalachia to the south.
